Just when I think I have this all figured out, life throws me another curve ball. This year we had a baby. Pregnancy always interferes with our schooling a little. Now that their new sister is here, we have started school again. Of course after a few weeks, we’ll be taking a quick break to move. (hopefully)
This year we made a curriculum switch. Jake has started My Father’s World, Exploring Countries and Cultures. He’s enjoying it, and so am I. We’re only in week 2 though, so we’ll see how it goes. He’s finished the Harry Potter series and is working on finishing the Series of Unfortunate Events. He’s on book 10. He’s playing Upwards Football this fall, and starts AWANAs this week and Homezone next month. At some point, Scouts will start again too. He’s becoming such an amazing kid. Homeschooling has been great for him.
Luke is finishing his kindergarten Hooked on Phonics right now. He’s flying through it. We just found out he needs glasses for reading, so we hope that helps quite a bit. He started in the RightStart math also. He seems to really like it. We are taking it slow with Luke. I really want him to enjoy learning. Since he is a little more challenging, I don’t want to push him to the point where he refuses to do any schooling, or hates it. So far, so good, he loves it. Luke is also playing football, going to homezone, and AWANAs. He won’t start Scouts until 3rd grade.
Nik is just along for the ride at this point. He loves to be read to and find letters. He loves to write letters and collect rocks.
Alex is just getting interested in coloring and letters. He can color in the lines better than the rest of the boys. It’s crazy. He’s also starting to write the letter A, and E’s with lots of lines on them. He loves to sit and color while we are doing school.
I’m not sure how I’m going to do it all once they all start getting bigger. I just know that I will. It is so much fun to watch them learn and grow. I can’t imagine leaving it to someone else.
